Gidea Park Get Together

On Saturday 17th June 2023 Fr. Adrian had requested cloudy weather for our parish garden party. And so it was!!!

Over 70 people signed up to meet old friends and make new ones. It was a bring and share event, organised by the Catholic Women's League and assisted by the men of the parish. The parishioners excelled themselves with an amazing array of foods from different parts of the world, including South America, Africa and Asia. Everyone had a good time, including the children, playing hide and seek in the extensive, beautifully tended gardens.

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard and contributed to a very special afternoon.

Etching of Christ The Eternal High Priest

The Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre have donated to our church a glass etching of Christ the Eternal High Priest. It is the work of Sister Mary Stephen and was done several years ago. Sister was determined it should find a good home and we are very pleased to welcome it into our church. You can see the etching in the alcove at the back of the church. You may find it best to view it from a little distance and discover the vested figure of Christ, and in the background a power station and electric pylon.

Sr Bridget's Visit

Thank you all for the warm welcome given to Sister Bridget Tighe last Sunday, when she spoke to us about the work of Caritas Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank and in Gaza. The work she has done in the Middle East is amazing. Thank you also for the collection, which amounted to £1,057.40. This was so very generous. We will continue to support the work of Caritas Jerusalem, through collections, and coffee mornings. Anyone who missed the collection and wants to contribute should please make cheque payable to ‘Christ the Eternal High Priest Catholic Church’ and mark the envelope ‘Caritas Jerusalem’. Thank you so much for this splendid showing of solidarity for those living in extremely difficult circumstances. To view Sr Bridget’s Homily, please click here

CWL Meeting

The Catholic Women’s League were the first group to meet in the hall following the opening up on 19th July. The meeting on 21st July was attended by some brave members who were socially distant and following procedures. They were delighted to see each other again in person and hope there will be no more interruptions to face to face meetings .
